Skimmia japonica Finchy is a compact, slow-growing evergreen valued for its glossy green foliage and showy clusters of greenish-white, fragrant spring flowers. Ideal for partial to full shade, it performs best in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil that is preferably acid to neutral, making it an excellent choice for woodland-style borders, shaded beds, and containers where winter buds and spring bloom add long-season interest. Ultimately forms a rounded shrub around 11.5m, providing reliable structure and colour in low-light areas.
