Thrives in bright, indirect light. It appreciates several hours of filtered sunlight daily but should be protected from harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves. Too little light may result in reduced flowering. East- or west-facing windows are ideal.
Allow the top 35 cm of soil to dry between waterings. Hoya erythrina stores moisture in its leaves and does not tolerate being constantly wet. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain away. In winter, reduce watering frequency but do not let the plant dry out completely.
