Ilex crenata Jenny is a compact, slow-growing Japanese holly with small, glossy green evergreen leaves, ideal for neat low hedges, edging and clipped shapes, and well suited to containers. In late spring it bears tiny white flowers; on pollinated female plants these may be followed by small black berries. Grow in moderately fertile, moist but well-drained neutral to acidic soil (avoid chalk) in sun or light shade; fully hardy and easy to trim for formal designs.
