A relatively new addition to the Hoya world, this tropical vine is prized by collectors for its ornamental foliage that blushes with brilliant colour under bright light and its clusters of fragrant, peach-to-apricot flowers.
The leaves are thick, semi-succulent, and oval with a rich green base that develops warm red, pink, or bronze highlights when exposed to strong indirect sunlight reminiscent of a tropical sunrise. As the plant matures, it produces elegant umbels of rosy-orange, waxy flowers with creamy coronas that emit a sweet, honeyed scent in the evening.

Thrives in bright, indirect light. To achieve the signature leaf blush, provide several hours of strong filtered sunlight or early-morning sun. Too little light will keep the foliage plain green and may reduce flowering, while direct midday rays can scorch the leaves.
Allow the top 34 cm of soil to dry before watering again. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain away. Like most Hoyas, Tequila Sunrise prefers a cycle of light drying between waterings. Reduce watering in winter when the plants growth slows.
Temperature: Prefers warm conditions between 2030C; avoid temperatures below 15C.
Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity (6080%). In dry indoor air, mist occasionally or place near a humidifier to support foliage colour and healthy blooms.
Use a well-draining, airy mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir, or a specialist Hoya substrate. Terracotta pots are excellent for regulating moisture levels. Repot every 23 years, preferably in spring, to refresh the soil and encourage new growth.
