One of the older and most reliable cultivars, Ornatum brings an elegant, architectural quality to gardens.
Foliage: Deeply dissected, lace-like leaves emerge bronze-red in spring, mature to rich reddish-green or bronze-green in summer, then blaze with brilliant scarlet to crimson hues in autumn. The fine texture creates a delicate, airy look.
Habit: A small, slow-growing, mounding tree with gracefully arching branches. It typically reaches 1.52.5 metres high with a wider spread (up to 34 metres), forming a beautiful dome.
Bark: Young branches have a slight reddish tone, adding subtle winter interest.
This variety is perfect near ponds, in rock gardens, or as a specimen in lawns and borders. Its cascading habit also makes it excellent for showing off on raised banks or walls, where its branches can drape naturally.
