Belonging to the Begoniaceae family, this cultivar is part of the Rex Begonia group (Begonia rex-cultorum), which are renowned for their highly decorative leaves rather than their flowers.
The leaves of Lunar Mist are large, asymmetrical, and slightly crinkled, with a cool-toned silvery sheen covering much of the surface. This frosted effect is interspersed with darker green veins and edges, giving the impression of moonlight shimmering on textured surfaces the inspiration behind its name. Depending on light levels, the silver can appear almost metallic, creating a luminous glow.
Compact and clumping, this begonia typically reaches 2535 cm tall and wide, forming a neat mound of decorative foliage. Although it may produce small pink flowers, it is grown primarily for its otherworldly leaves, which remain ornamental year-round.
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch the delicate leaves, while too little light will reduce variegation and dull the silvery tones.
