Native to the rainforests of Brazil, this plant belongs to the Piperaceae family and is part of the large and diverse Peperomia genus, known for its many decorative species.
Rosso is particularly eye-catching thanks to its deeply corrugated, heart-shaped leaves. The upper surfaces are a glossy, dark green, while the undersides reveal a vivid, ruby-red hue, creating a dramatic contrast when the leaves arch and curl. The prominent veins and textured leaf surface give it a sculptural quality, while the overall rosette growth habit keeps the plant neat and compact.
It also produces slender, tail-like flower spikes in pale green, though these are modest compared to the decorative foliage.
