Native to South America, Philodendron bipinnatifidum (also known as Philodendron selloum or Lacy Tree Philodendron) is prized for its large, deeply lobed foliage and imposing growth habit. The variegated form elevates this tropical beauty to collector status.
The leaves are immense and dramatic, with each blade divided into deep, finger-like lobes. In the variegated form, splashes, streaks, and marbling of creamy white, pale yellow, or mint are scattered across the dark green surface, making each leaf completely unique. Mature plants can produce leaves over 1 metre long, creating a bold and sculptural presence.
Unlike many philodendrons, this species forms a thick, woody trunk as it matures, giving it a tree-like stature. In its natural environment, it can reach several metres tall, though as a houseplant it typically grows to 1.52 m.
