Sansevieria Pyramid is a rare and sculptural cultivar of the snake plant family, admired for its bold upright growth and triangular form. Like all Sansevierias, it originates from Africa and Asia, where these tough succulents thrive in arid, rocky landscapes.
The Pyramid variety is instantly recognisable for its compact, vertical rosette of thick, lance-shaped leaves that taper to a sharp point, creating a pyramid-like silhouette. The foliage is dark to grey-green with subtle horizontal banding, often with paler variegation depending on conditions. The leaves are arranged tightly, forming a strong architectural display that looks both modern and timeless.
Typically, Sansevieria Pyramid remains compact, reaching 2540 cm tall, though it may slowly clump over time by producing offsets. Its bold form and easy care make it particularly desirable for collectors and interior designers alike.
Adapts well to a wide range of light conditions. Thrives in bright, indirect light but also tolerates medium and even low light. Direct afternoon sun may scorch the leaves but morning sun is usually beneficial.
Extremely drought tolerant. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. In summer, watering every 23 weeks is usually enough; in winter, reduce to monthly or less. Overwatering is the primary risk.
Temperature: Prefers 1828C. Protect from frost and avoid long exposure below 10C.
Humidity: Thrives in average to dry indoor air, making it ideal for centrally heated homes.
Use a gritty, free-draining cactus or succulent mix. Repot every 23 years in spring or when offsets crowd the pot. Sansevierias prefer to remain slightly root-bound.
Feed monthly in spring and summer with a diluted cactus or succulent fertiliser. Do not fertilise in winter.
Requires very little maintenance. Remove old or damaged leaves at the base. Wipe foliage with a damp cloth to maintain its natural shine.
A slow grower that typically remains 2540 cm tall. Over time, it produces offsets, forming small clumps. Mature plants may occasionally flower with clusters of fragrant white-green blossoms.
Yellow or mushy leaves: Overwatering.
Wrinkling: Indicates prolonged drought water deeply, then allow to dry again.
Pests: Rare, but may occasionally attract mealybugs or spider mites.
Sansevierias have been cultivated for centuries as ornamental and functional plants. Known for their resilience, they are also celebrated for their air-purifying qualities, as demonstrated by NASA studies. The Pyramid cultivar is particularly valued for its compact form and strong architectural lines, making it a natural choice for minimalistic or modern dcor.
