It brings elegant texture and vivid colour to gardens for much of the year.
Foliage: The leaves are deeply lobed and finely cut, almost lace-like (dissectum type). They emerge a brilliant garnet-red in spring, retain rich red tones through summer, and often deepen to fiery crimson in autumn. Unlike some reds that turn bronze or green, Garnet holds its colour well even in warmer weather.
Habit: Forms a neat, rounded, cascading shape. Typically grows to 1.52 metres high and can spread to 2.53 metres wide over time, making it perfect for small gardens or focal points.
Bark: Young stems have a subtle red flush, adding mild winter interest once the leaves drop.
Garnet is ideal for Japanese-style gardens, shady borders, or as a stunning specimen in a pot on a patio. Its elegant weeping habit looks beautiful next to ponds, rocks or underplanted with low-growing perennials.
Thrives in partial shade or dappled sunlight. Morning sun with afternoon shade is ideal to protect the delicate leaves from scorching.
