Leucothoe Little Flames is a compact, evergreen selection noted for vivid red young foliage that deepens to rich red-purple tints in cooler months, maturing to glossy green in summer. It forms a dense, low mound ideal for shaded borders or containers of ericaceous compost, and bears small white, bell-shaped flowers in spring. Best in partial to full shade, in humus-rich, acidic, moist but well-drained soil; avoid chalk and strong midday sun. Slow growing, it typically reaches around 3060 cm in height and spread.
